Microsoft has announced that the Sky app is finally available for Xbox One in the UK, enabling users to once again be able to view Sky TV via their console, as per the app on Xbox 360. To take advantage of the app, however, a vanilla Sky Go subscription will no longer suffice. You'll need to upgrade to Sky Go Extra or Sky Multiscreen.

Should you have a subscription to either of these services, you'll be able to stream live Sky TV and watch on-demand content, which includes Sky Box Sets and catch-up shows. Sky Box Sets include shows like The Last Panthers, Scandal, Fungus The Bogeyman and loads more.

We're pretty sure that shows like The Wire, The Sopranos, Game of Thrones and Mad Men are on there too. Xbox One customers can also get a two-month trial to Sky Go Extra by downloading the app from the Xbox Store and upgrading to Sky Go Extra.

“Sky Player on Xbox 360 remains one of the most popular apps with our fans, so we’re delighted to bring TV From Sky to Xbox One owners in the UK," said UK Xbox Marketing Director Harvey Eagle.

Sky on Xbox One is available now, joining streaming services on the console like Now TV, BBC iPlayer, All 4 and Twitch.
