Below, reader, lies a trailer for Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition, a next gen version of last year's triumphant (and eventually, profitable) reboot for Xbox 360 and PS3. Its contents: sparkly bits. Also dust motes and sun beams. Have a watch.

The new edition came out on 31st January in Europe, and is a controversial topic. It doesn't run at 60 frames a second on Xbox One, cue much wailing and gnashing and these observations from Microsoft's Albert Penello, who thinks that "these little things get way overblown versus the quality of the games and the real differences in experiences which are pretty minor".

We'd have appreciated 60 frames a second, ourselves, but as has been explored elsewhere, there's more to good looks than frame rate or resolution.

"Calling this the Definitive Edition is definitively over-stating the case, but nothing that's been added makes Tomb Raider any less of a game," our reviewer Log wrote last week. "The thing is, it's no greater of a game, either - the cosmetic upgrades are welcome, but non-essential.

"And everything else is just peripheral fluff. If you've already played it, there's no need to come back. If you haven't already played it, you should probably think about putting that right."
