So my ftp download speed is reallllyy slow, the max it gets is 40kbs and so i was wondering how can i speed it up Im using filezilla i have it set to 4 connections and passive my usual download speed is about 500kb's to 1mb here is my speedtest results
That's Australian Internet for you But otherwise, I myself never got the best speeds, Aus to UK never really is the best for downloading.
My Verizon connection from USA to UK is about 400k down and I am on a 150m line. So I feel your pain.
Try using CuteFTP instead of filezilla That's My SpeedTest and get quite fast speeds on FTP with CuteFTP Two different Servers and not much difference between them
Aus to UK will suffer extreme packet loss due to the distance, CuteFTP is a decent program but the speeds shown are not real. My DL speed is 60mb/s but my true DL speed (the speed I actually download at) is only 7.2mb/s. For every 10mb, you get 1.2mb/s true DL, now going back to my speed, CuteFTP says I download at 13mb/s but I download a 95mb file in just under 2 minutes, if you do the math, that is definitely not right, wether it be the time or speed that's wrong. So basically what I'm saying is, look at the time it takes to download a file on Filezilla then compare it to CuteFTP, if it's close then CuteFTP speeds are wrong. UPDATE: I've found out that the speeds CuteFTP use are Mbps NOT MBps which is what our ISP's use. So basically, MBps = Megabytes per second Mbps = Megabits per second So when you download in Filezilla, you are shown MB/s not Mb/s 2.5 Mb/s = 312.50 KB/s 7.5 Mb/s = 937.50 KB/s 30 Mb/s = 3.75 MB/s So my speeds are 60 MB/s and 7.2 MB/s
