Ubisoft has finally stepped in to clarify rumors that the game studio is working on a new "Assassin's Creed" installment that they call "Assassin's Creed: Golden Age."
"Before we officially announce a game to the world, we use a working title or code name to refer to a project internally. Assassin's Creed Golden Age was the internal name given to Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag. It is not the name of any future Assassin's Creed title," Ubisoft explained to Gamespot after the news became widespread in the game community.
Speculations started when a Ubisoft Graduate Program brochure from the game studio showed an image of developers looking over a printout that bears the title "Assassin's Creed Golden Age." But as it turns out, "Golden Age" is a game that fans have already seen, a name for the 2013 historical fiction action-adventure open world stealth video game "Assassin's Creed Black Flag" back when it was in still in its premature stages. "Assassin's Creed Victory," which was made public accidentally as well, serves as the next project of the folks at Ubisoft.
The spreadsheet has a space for characters and even locations as well as an image of a ship. But even before Ubisoft has made the issue clear, media outlets have already surmised that "Assassin's Creed Golden Age" is not a new game simply because the publisher used "golden age of piracy" as the time period of "Assassin's Creed Black Flag," making it more of a working title than a final one.
Meanwhile, Ubisoft is making headway for its next "Assassin's Creed" installment titled "Assassin's Creed Victory," which is set in 19th century London during the Victorian era. The game is slated to be released in fall of this year and Ubisoft Montreal leads the production of the game.
