If the prospect of getting four classic Halo games all prettied up and shoved into one box isn't enough of a draw for you, 343 Industries is cramming in a bunch of story content relating to upcoming fifth Master Chief outing Halo 5: Guardians, due for release on Xbox One in 2015.

Right off the bat, there's the bookend cut-scenes that we were told about during the game's behind-closed-doors showing at Gamescom, and they'll introduce you to some of the new characters you're going to see popping up in Halo 5, like Halo: Nightfall protagonist, Locke.

"We've added bookend cinematics that start to introduce some characters you're gonna see in Halo 5 and kinda set up the story that way," Executive Producer Dan Ayoub explains. "The characters you're gonna see in the cinematics won't appear in the gameplay of Halo 2. They're just setting up some guys you're gonna see in Halo 5. We're gonna show the Arbiter. We're gonna show Locke. Characters like that. You're gonna see some old characters and some new ones."

Fellow Executive Producer, Kiki Wolfkill describes these sequences as "connective tissue to Halo 5." While these cut-scenes will be part of Halo 2 Anniversary's story, there'll also be hidden terminals to track down in a variety of the remastered game's levels. They'll be hard to find, but the search ought to be worthwhile.

"We have terminals in Halo 2 Anniversary, and they'll also give some insight into the storyline and what's coming down the road in Halo 5 for people who want to go find those," said Ayoub.

Won't all of this new stuff in Halo 2 be a bit jarring though? Not so, Ayoub assures.

"We work closely with our teams to make sure we're not breaking any history or introducing any plot holes," he said. "In the case of the terminal videos, this time, we're gonna be focusing on the history of the Arbiter. It's gonna be him narrating, telling a bit of his story as it leads up to Halo 5."

As well as including a beta for Halo 5: Guardians, Halo: The Master Chief Collection will also feature a variety of unlockables that won't just be pieces of concept art. "We will go into more specifics a little later down the road," Wolfkill revealed, "but we definitely want [Halo 5 beta] rewards to feel meaningful for the player. So it's not just art."

Halo: The Master Chief Collection is out on November 11th, 2014
