Voting has officially opened for the annual Golden Joystick Awards, which in 2014 enters its 32nd year as the world's biggest public-voted gaming awards.

The Joysticks were launched by CVG magazine in 1982, with Ultimate's Jetpac taking home the first award, and in 2014 features 16 publicly-voted categories designed to reflect the diversity of modern gaming.

The 32nd Joysticks builds on 2013's successful revamp - our ten new categories attracted 10 million votes - with the addition of the Audio and Personality awards, the latter of which is designed to celebrate the talented people behind the medium.

2014's leading nominees are a roster of creativity, with Media Molecule's endearing platformer Tearaway leading with seven, followed closely by stylish iOS thriller Device 6 with yes, six.

Konami's Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes (5), Nintendo's Mario Kart 8 (4) and Housemarque's PS4 shooter Resogun are also among the top nominees.

Both Sony Computer Entertainment and Ubisoft lead the publisher nominations with more than 20 each.

As always, the Golden Joysticks shortlist was chosen by an editorial panel comprised of Future games editorial staff from publications including PC Gamer, Edge, Kotaku UK and more.

The Joysticks are the world's longest running games awards, but more importantly they're the only annual awards voted for by the public. In 2013 the awards amassed more than ten million votes, with BioShock creator Ken Levine collecting a Lifetime Achievement award and The Last of Us ending up the biggest winner of the night.

With your votes, we hope the 32nd Golden Joysticks ceremony will deliver the most relevant and exciting awards yet, and showcase the passion and innovation that's ripe across the industry.
