The blows keep hitting Microsoft regarding the Xbox One. If it's not the digital rights management policies causing grief for their public relations department, then it is the inability to buy used games, if not that it's the required Kinect camera. One thing that has caused a stir happens to be the required internet connection, once every 24 hours, to "verify" your machine. When asked what players can do if they want to play off line, Don Mattrick told them to “buy an Xbox 360” (true story). In defense of Microsoft's (at the time, rumored) internet requirement, key (ex) employees even went on to mock consumers about their distain for “always on,” linking the requirement for “needing electricity to power a vacuum.” Well, it seems another knock to the Xbox One’s internet plan just arose, as Jim Sterling, the review editor for Destructoid, reported that the Xbox One will require a 1.5mbps download speed in order to function. This was further shown by the updated Xbox services page. For an optimal experience, we recommend a broadband connection of 1.5Mbps. (For reference, the average global internet connection speed as measured recently by Akamai was 2.9 Mbps). In areas where an Ethernet connection is not available, you can connect using mobile broadband. Source - The examiner
listen I've been in the data and telecoms industry as a data/telecom engineer for 11+ years and that's bull your going to need a hell of a lot better internet than 1.5mbps your going to need more than that just as upload speed and I can tell you most peoples upload in the UK is less than 2mb/ I obviously don't know as I don't have a xbox one lol (and won't be getting one) 1.5mbs is the basic for just loggin in updating and loading all the bloody ad's that will be on the page, but the data stream and whats running in the background all the time, if your on normal telco broadband your going to have problems, and games will be streaming and everything massive amounts of data will be uploaded, with the cloud service everything going to be uploaded to it basically as a ruff guide peoples upload speeds is ussually 10% of your download speed and most telco broadband in the uk is 6-12mbs download and 0.8-1.6mbp upload so these people are going to have massive prob's, to fully use the xbox one your going to have to get so much more ie: better more costly internet BT fiber or Virgin media is definatly the best (for cloud) a tv service for all those features on the xbox one. And you will not be able to use mobile signal in the UK for gaming to log in yeah but gaming no chance you cannot even do it not on the 360 sucsessfully all to do with the ping would be over 1000 and just not work, the last game on the 360 you could play on mobile was call of duty 4 after that ping would would not allow it. Microsoft are really digging them selfs a massive whole lol For M$ to say 1.5mbps min yeah to log in lol
1.5mb is such a small amount (about 170KB) my internet is shitty and below 98% speed of US according to speedtest.net and I double that.
iam sticking to the 360 regardless of all the bs about ps4 and xbox one. if its not broke don't fix it lol
Worse than 73% of the US, so that means that this isn't a big issue for people, because there is 73% more people with connection better than this in America. Lastly, as Wallsch said, his connection is worse than 98%, and meets the requirement, so therefore this is another problem that isn't serious.
