What you will need: - untouched default.xex for the game you are updating - Title update for your game - Lefluffie - XeXtool - Previously modded or newly modded files - HxD or any other hex editor This is for Jtag only mods, I will do Medal of Honor as an example (unreal engine) First you need to open your title update file in LeFluffie and extract somewhere easy like your desktop Now open the folder you extracted your title update to and find default.xexp then copy to your XexTool folder Also copy your untouched default.xex to XexTool folder, then hold shift and right click in the folder to open command window. Now to patch your default.xex type in this command: xextool -p default.xexp default.xex this will now patch your file, when its done use this command to decrypt and uncompress your default.xex: xextool -ed -cu default.xex now copy your updated default.xex to your desktop and open it in HxD, find the original Sha-1 which needs to be replaced, search for this: 8E 09 E1 65 95 8D 2D 93 DB A4 71 47 8C 1F 5E 12 C1 43 22 EC open your previously modded file in HxD, find and copy the Sha-1 of the file now go back to your default.xex in Hxd and right click on the selection we made before, select Fill Selection and paste in your modded Sha-1 Save the file and you should now have a default.xex updated to the TU of your choice
sorry another question on this. Since gears of war 3 didn't actually check the sha-1 in the default.xex do we still need to change the sha-1 in the .xex?
Yes the Title update did fix the Sha-1 in the .xex and also patched quite a bit of other stuff too. Notice there are no GOW3 TU1 files? if you try even adding god mode the game will seem to boot fine right up until you start playing then will throw up a fatal crash, still yet to find a workaround for it yet
