I just downloaded a killer is dead game save, and as soon as i loaded it it gave me an achievement for having a total of 100 mil in cash. on my first save i was only on level 5. unfortunately this achievement unlocked when i was online. should i be worried?
I wouldn't worry too much about it i unlocked all the World at war achievements in a random order about 2 years ago and have been fine
I wouldn't be, most of my achievements are out of order as well and I am still not banned. For example on Fallout 3, according to my achievements, I have reached level 30 before reaching level 20 and that was done online. I could be wrong though, I might just be lucky.
There is always a risk, even when its this small of a mistake, when modding. Always test saves on a dummy gamertag to see what it pops before using the save on your main account. I can't stress this enough

so technically if they found out i'd be hit with a full reset as opposed to just that one achievement?
Yes, all of your achievements would be gone and your gamerscore would be set to 0. You will also be given the rank cheater.
when you're online all your progess will be saved to xbl (achievement wise) - it syncs when you get back online. if you make a mistake with a save and you're offline you can just re-download the profile from xbl and everything you've done wrong offline will be gone. you just have to delete your profile from your harddrive - but be careful - there's an option to delete profile only and delete profile + all stuff (savegames, etc.). then you just have to download profile by signing in to your account with email and password.
This only works if you test the save on your profile offline, if it unlocks something you do not want or out of order. Delete and recover your gamertag and the achievements you just unlocked offline will be gone Yes if you are caught, you will have 0gs 2 out of order is not bad, but still noticeable to friends, friends of friends turn you in and file a complaint. Remember to just make a offline profile and test all saves on it. That way this can't happen again.
I wouldnt worry about it. I have so many achievements out of order its not even funny. And Im talking games from 5 years ago. Never reset or anything. And yes its an online profile.
