With Black Ops II out in the wilderness, it's time to start looking ahead to next year's Call of Duty instalment (obviously), which is rumoured to be Modern Warfare 4, unsurprisingly. Perhaps slightly more surprising however is news that MW3 co-developer Sledgehammer is hiring for the next CoD and it'll be coming to Xbox 360 and PS3 rather than next-gen consoles.

Sledgehammer Games is looking for a Senior Environment Artist to join its team, with the description stating that the successful candidate should have "a desire to work on the most successful FPS franchise in the history of video games."

Involving work on single-player and multiplayer levels, while collaborating with Level Designers, it's hoped that whoever takes the vacant role "will ensure that the level works on all relevant platforms, Xbox 360, PS3".

Is this a sign that Call of Duty is staying put on current-gen consoles or could it be simultaneously coming to next-gen machines, as and when they're revealed? For now, it seems certain that the next Call of Duty will be coming to current consoles, and whether that game will be Modern Warfare 4? Well, for now that'll have to wait for an official announcement from Activision, but consider it highly likely.
