The Playstation network is finally coming back online after hackers known as the Lizard Squad took the service offline on Christmas day using DDOS attacks. The downtime has not been been solely down to the Lizard Squad though, they ceased attacking PSN after Kim Dotcom offered payment of 3000 mega premium vouchers to cease the attacks on the gaming networks. Sony has yet to comment on why the network has been offline voluntarily, however according to Whitehat hackers 'Finest Squad' Sony have been investigating: https://twitter.com/FinestSquad/status/548520707387564032?lang=en-gb As gamers we can only hope that both Sony and Microsoft have reevaluated the way the online gaming services are run. Although it was admirable of Kim Dotcom to pay off the Lizard Squad with Mega vouchers, he may have opened the flood gates for other squads to follow the lead of the Lizard Squad and attack gaming networks. What are your thoughts, are Sony and Microsoft doing enoug, or do you feel that now they have your money they seem reluctant to take measures to keep their services online? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below, and for now... happy gaming!
I still have problems with PSN but live has been fine. I think live has a stronger structure and probably why its been resolved quicker. It is annoying though why the hell do people do this ? spoiling everyones christmas.
Im glad I wasnt online at this point but feel for others who have been waiting a long time for a PS or Xbox off santa and never got to fully try out their console and experience online.
