PS3 'Appropriate System Storage was not found'

    So, fixing my mates PS3 for him and getting this error,

    'Cannot Start
    The Appropriate system storage was not found.'

    I've tried 3 hard drives in it, same error and opened it up, the sata connector seems fine.

    The PS3 has never has CFW.

    Any ideas?

    My first guess would have been to say check the connection to make sure everything is connected properly, but since you say that has already been checked you may have to send it in for service

    Edit: Tried connecting in safe mode?

    It wont boot in to safe mode at all, I get the 2 beeps and stuff but comes up with the same error.

    That's odd. Had a similar issue about a year back and did safe mode and just restored the file system. get the three beeps an everything?
