Pokémon Mystery Dungeon sequel Gates to Infinity has been given a new gameplay trailer by Nintendo.

The video introduces the game's role-playing elements, exploring the ways in which groups of Pokémon team up to tackle "ever-changing dungeons"

The Western gameplay video also teases a number of the game's environments and looks at the combat system.

Available in Europe on May 17 and North America on March 24, the 3DS-exclusive role-playing game will be released at retail and through the Nintendo eShop.

Playable Pokémon include Snivy, Oshawott, Tepig, Pikachu and Axew, as well as multiple Unova region Pokémon.

The game will adopt a 3D art style and make use of the 3DS's augmented reality capabilities.

Roughly translated as Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Magnagate and the Infinite Labyrinth in Japan, the Magnagate part of the title refers to the in-game portals preceding dungeons.

Users will have the ability to scan round objects to create new portals and dungeons.
