Pokémon Go is getting a gigantic update this week, developer Niantic has announced.

A total of 80 new Pokémon from the second generation of games will begin to appear in the mobile game, along with several other new features.

Johto Pokémon, from the starter trio of Chikorita, Cyndaquil and Totodile and beyond, will now be available in the wild.

To accompany the new Pokémon, Pokémon Go will also receive new evolutionary items and berries. The evolutionary items will help players complete their Johto collections, while the berries will make battles feel a little more challenging.

The Nanab Berry and Pinap Berry are the two new berry items in trainers’ arsenals. The Nanab Berry will slow Pokemon down so it’s less likely for them to run off, while Pinap Berries help players collect twice as much candy upon a successful catch.

On a more superficial level, increased customization options will be available for purchase. Trainers will be able to further customize their looks, so now not everyone will have to walk around wearing the same outfit.

This update may not introduce the long-requested multiplayer and trading features, but Pokémon Go sounds like it has at least 80 more reasons to start checking it out again.

New Pokémon may not diversify the gameplay, but the additional items sound like they’ll shake things up just enough to make 2016’s biggest hit feel a bit fresher.
