Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee Going HD (XBLA)
The original PlayStation side-scrolling classic Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee is getting a high-definition remake.
Series creator Lorne Lanning confirmed to Electronic Gaming Monthly that developer Just Add Water, creators of the upcoming Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath remake for PlayStation 3, is working on the project.
"Abe HD is going into production," creator Lorne Lanning told Electronic Gaming Monthly. "It's basically Abe's Oddysee being redone in a 3D physics engine as a 2D side-scrolling platformer. So the way Just Add Water wants to approach it, we thought was very smart; they are not trying to reinvent any wheels. It's like, 'Can we make that experience in a new engine, with new tech, in the old way?'"
Platforms and release date were not announced. Just Add Water said in September its Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath remake will unlikely be released on Xbox Live due to Microsoft's two gigabyte file size limit. It's unclear at this if the size limit will affect the Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee remake.
