Ubisoft recently held a pre-E3 press event to demonstrate South Park: The Stick of Truth. Previews are just now starting to emergy. For new screenshots and details, continue on below. - Game has players acquiring the all-powerful Stick - Press demo set in the middle of a civil war at South Park elementary - The elves, lead by Stan and Kyle, are fighting against the humans, lead by Cartman, for control over the Stick - Choose which side to fight for - In this case the New Kid was on Cartman’s team - Customization is an important part of the game - Can choose between male/female, clothing, costumes, skills, abilities, weapons, and more - Level up skills and abilities along with yourself - Costumes will give you different passive abilities that can be modified with patches - Modify weapons with different strap-ons - Demo requires players to navigate through the school to reach the Stick’s location - There’s an all-out war going on, with lots of obstacles that you’ll need to get through - A number of rooms have obstructions blocking your path - Use your slingshot to shoot down lighting that will in turn knock out kids - Shrink yourself down in size and make your way through ventilation shafts to get around blocked routes - An alien probe that bursts out of your derriere can also teleport you up to specific hard-to-reach areas - Farting skills is your biggest magical ability - Press and hold the appropriate button to fart into your cupped hands and toss out fart balls - Dragon Shout: let out blasts of farts when the situation requires it - New Kid is also called the Dragonborn - Game has a significant amount of adventuring - Can save a girl getting ganged up on - Afterwards she’ll add you on Facebook - Making more friends nets you powerful abilities and adds people to your party - Manage your party and customize your character through the in-game Facebook - New Kid can use his poop as an attack in combat - Battles happen when you encounter an enemy, with the full transition to the battlefield and all - Combat similar to Super Mario RPG - Turn-based fights - Timed attacks/defensive moves - Different attacks ranging from physical, magical, and full-on summons Butters, who is in your party, will chuck a hammer at people’s heads - Another attack has you throwing enough water at the enemy so there’s a puddle around them, pull out a car battery, and then toss in the other end of the cable clamps to shock someone - Can summon Mr. Slave and have him shove people up into his buttocks - Final part of the demo: showdown between Cartman and Kyle where the room with the Stick is - Choose a side once again; the player in this instance fights against Cartman - The choices present different dialogue, but the final result here will be the same - Everyone finds out that Clyde Donovan is in the possession of the Stick, and he’s declared war on both humans and elves with his Nazi-like army of the dead Source - Destructoid
