It seems like once every few months, we're posting news about how many copies the phenomenonally successful Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition has shifted. Why, it was only back in October 2012 (remember 2012?) that we reported on Mojang's block building mega hit reaching 4 million units. Now it's reached 5 million. Blimey. Well deserving of its spot in our 'Top 5 Success Stories of 2012' feature, Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition continues to go from strength to strength on XBLA, managing to shift another 1 million digital copies since the announcement of the October figures, reaching the 5 million milestone on December 31st, as tweeted by Mojang's Daniel Kaplan. Markus 'Notch' Persson also noted that on Christmas Day alone, the Minecraft series sold 453,000 copies across all platforms, bringing the grand total up to 18 million units sold to date. Looks like Minecraft is one helluva spicy meatball... Source - X360A
