Microsoft said to let devs set release dates, pricing on Xbox Live games; certification process to be similar to iTunes Seems Microsoft is getting into the swing of things when it comes to reversing its policies. Just recently Xpgamesaves reported on the reversal of the DRM policies when MS did a U-turn on its always online requirements. Now it looks as though Microsoft could be backing down off another, as its been reported that the company will allow independent developers to self-publish their games on Xbox Live. The outlet's sources say that developers will be able to make the call on their games' release dates and pricing. Additionally, Microsoft is looking to make its certification process more like iTunes, with a targeted 14-day window from submission to approval. That will mean the company's examination of game code will be more cursory, covering primarily terms of service breaches and major bugs. Finally, Game Informer reports that the standard Xbox One retail unit will be convertible to a debug console that can play pre-release code. Instead of having two different hardware setups, Microsoft will just authorize specific consoles to play unfinished code. The same process is expected to work for large-scale beta testing of games as well. This post has been promoted to an article
I sure they are, they have to reform to compete with Sony , All they really had was Titanfall before all these 180's they have pulled. Everybody is so in love with the X1 now. Remember, this is still the company that tried to implement all these changes(DRM, always online, 24 hour console check in) in these first place. If it wasn't for Sony we would still be getting the E3 edition .
This was most likely planned from the start, not to sound like a conspirisist, but what better way to get everyone talking non stop about the Xbox One right? Also it makes MS look like the caring company that listens to its consumers. All and any publicity is good publicity.

I agree with this and another thing is people don't realize that they can implement all of these features right back, at any given time in the foreseeable future. There is nothing you can do about it either, there terms of service pretty much lets them do whatever they want
Which means the xbox one after awhile will be able to run unassigned code "Jtaging RGHing So forth?" @
