Microsoft’s Lead Planner, Albert Penello, confirmed to Forbes in an interview that the team almost called the Xbox One, ‘Xbox Infinity.’ Days before Microsoft announced Xbox One in May, many rumors came out that Microsoft would call their next Xbox the Xbox Infinity. Were there other names considered for the Xbox One? We’d heard rumors about it being called Xbox Infinity, Xbox Live, etc., but where did One come in? That’s actually from the brand guys. The name is all them. We just wanted to make sure the hardware was solid. What it was called was top secret, even for many people on the team. We’d heard often that Infinity was the final name. Many of us thought it was a good candidate, given the connection to Infinity over and over in the Halo series. The name Xbox Infinity was in the running, I can say that. They’re crafty. Yeah I c all the original xbox the xbox one so at first it was a bit confusing, but I still think of the original when I hear the name.
