    firstl how old is it age will determine if its flashable the easy way as in drilling the chip or trace cutting the pcb . what firmware is the drive on .

    right ok but whats the mfr date on the back also have you opened it if you know how do to it crack it open and look to see what firmware revision the drive is .

    then i reckon its gonna have the 05x chipset which in order to do it you will need usb pro ck3i template to make correct drillnig point for the 1mm drill bit that comes supplied with it but seriously if you dont know how to open it watch a video on youtube to see how to do it and i warn you the procedure youre gonna be undertaking is nicknamed the kamikaze hack which if done incorrectly you can destroy youre pcb .

    another option is to buy usb pro ck3i hook the drive upto them on your computer and read the drive key save it buy an unlocked pcb and then flash youre key onto the unlocked board .

    i like 2nd option better and i can open it thats not a problem but can you link me to the best place to buy the stuff for 2nd procedure?

    just google buy unlocked slim pcb then it should give you a list of modding sites to buy all the gear from you need

    slim unlocked pcb .
    ck3i this is for powering the drive .
    usb pro version 1 or 2 theres very little diffrence beetween the two and either is suitable for the task .
    possibly a soldering iron but that depends on what type of unlocked pcb you buy .
