The majority of the Assassin’s Creed series takes place within the Animus, a machine connecting protagonist Desmond Miles to his ancestral past and letting players experience a variety of historical landmarks, from Jerusalem to Rome. In the upcoming Assassin’s Creed III, players will be taken to the American Revolution under the guise of Native American Connor Kenway.
