Electronic Arts has confirmed it has no intention to re-introduce its Online Pass program following Microsoft's Xbox One policy changes earlier today. The Online Pass program was scrapped last month, leading to speculation that EA would instead rely on Microsoft's controversial second-hand game policies to reduce profits lost to the used market. But EA has confirmed with Polygon that the publisher has no intention to reintroduce it. "As we said a few weeks ago, none of our new EA titles will include online pass, and we are removing it from existing games as well," EA director of corporate communications John Reseburg said. "Nothing else on today's news, but did want to be clear that our online pass decision was based on player feedback, and there's no change." Online Passes were a single use code bundled with brand new software, allowing access to multiplayer content. Users who purchased a secondhand copy of a title were required to purchase a new pass to access that content. EA scrapped the passes last month, claiming that "many players didn't respond to the format." Microsoft ditched its controversial always-online and used-games policies for the Xbox One earlier today.
