Hey. My main gamertag recently became banned from black ops online matches and zombies online. I am thinking of creating a new gamertag since my live is about to run out anyway. If I do this and get gold for it, will I be able to play the dlc maps like moon and call of the dead, or will i not be able to?
if only the gamertag was banned then you should still be able to play all of your purchased dlc with your new tag since the license will still be there.
So if my friend can get on Black Ops on my xbox then that means its only my gamertag, correct? If he can't it's my console. But if I can access online from his xbox with my gamertag would that mean an ip ban? I'm hoping it is just a gamertag ban because this could be my way to start anew on WaW and Cod4 and play with real stats.
Your Xbox has the licenses to the DLC so any profile on your Xbox can play the DLC and it would tell you if it was a console ban.
That sounds correct to me. If your friend can sign into live than it's a gamertag ban, if he can't it's your console. AFAIK, Microsoft typically doesn't do IP bans, usually only console or gamertag. The way to determine if it is an IP ban is if he brought his Xbox to your house and you were not able to login from your house but then went to his house and was able to log in there. If it is a ban specific to your gamertag, then you should be able to create a new gamertag on the new console and you'll have a fresh start to all your stats and games. In addition, if it is a console ban, then you'll have to get the DLC to your new console and either be connected to XBL while playing or do a license transfer.
the license to the dlc is to your console if u switched consoles u would have to sign in to your account which was banned to use them correct me if i got something wrong
