A few anonymous developers have spoken out to Edge Online regarding the differences in performances amongst the new consoles. The biggest difference is currently the drivers where these developers are claiming the PS4 is 50% faster than Xbox One. One developer went as far as saying Xbox One’s drivers are horrible. Our contacts have told us that memory reads on PS4 are 40-50 per cent quicker than Xbox One, and its ALU (Arithmetic Logic Unit) is around 50 per cent faster. One basic example we were given suggested that without optimisation for either console, a platform-agnostic development build can run at around 30FPS in 1920×1080 on PS4, but it’ll run at “20-something†FPS in 1600×900 on Xbox One. “Xbox One is weaker and it’s a pain to use its ESRAM,†concluded one developer. Both Sony and Microsoft are aware of these problems and are yet to finalize the consoles performances yet. Microsoft is aware of the problem and, having recently upped the clock speed of Xbox One, is working hard to close the gap on PS4, though one developer we spoke to downplayed the move. “The clock speed update is not significant, it does not change things that much,†he said. “Of course, something is better than nothing.†The next big issue is that Sony and Microsoft are pushing developers to take advantage of their consoles exclusive features. But developers don’t want to. Both platform holders are, of course, encouraging developers to take advantage of each console’s unique features (the DualShock 4’s touch pad and Kinect, for example) but there’s little enthusiasm for either among the developers we spoke to. “They really want us to make use of platform specific stuff to give their version a leg up over the other,†said one source. “But unless there’s a good design reason or incentive we rarely do.†“The poor [graphics] drivers have made it difficult to push either of them, and the developers aren’t familiar with the hardware yet,“ said one source. The final issue is that some developers are afraid of giving one platform an advantage over the other due to financial and other business reasons. But, some said they don’t care and will give the PS4 an advantage if they see it makes sense. SOURCE: Edge
why does this sound like that those that were talking were paid to say that the PS4 is 50% faster then the Xbox ONE. That doesn't seem right cause come launch day for the Xbox ONE they will have a complete system to use for developing games more. I know for a fact that 343 Studios is based at Microsoft and have the full use and support of the tech staff on hand
You dont buy a game console for all that multimedia bull crap. Its a game console for a reason. The xbox one is a joke. They had to go back on everything they said cause nobdoy was preordering their console. Yet they prefer netflix, espn etc on a gaming console taking away from the gaming part. You want to play games get a ps4, you want to watch sports and movies get a xbox one. Simple as that
Well but, dont believe everything they says if PS4 is Much Better than XBOX One Why It Cost less then Xbox One i think its only some trick how to get money soo i will always prefer Xbox and Microsoft.
