THQ has announced that Darksiders 2 won’t make its originally announced release date of June 26. THQ’s community manager Mathew Everett announced the delay on the game’s official forums, stating that the move to August would allow the team more time to polish the game and fix any bugs. “Darksiders II will be moving to release globally in August 2012, rather than June as previously announced. It’s just a short delay, but we promise the game you’ll have in August will be well worth the wait!†he said. â€This is great news for the team at Vigil, because it allows additional time for polish and to ensure that all aspects of Darksiders II meet the high-quality bar the team is targeting. In game development, more time is always a good thing for quality and the Vigil team is dedicated to providing the definitive Darksiders experience.†Danny Bilson, THQ’s exec VP for core games, brought the release date in to question during an interview last week, stating that the team would take as long as they needed to make sure that the game is perfect. After that interview last week we all expected a delay to hit the game at some point, as Bilson or the THQ PR rep didn’t sound too confident of the June 26 release date. Darksiders 2 is a massive game for THQ this year, with its current financial difficulties it can’t afford for the game not to sell well. If that means a couple of months delay, then that is what they must do. We want the best game possible as consumers, so we’re sure that everyone can wait another two months for some more Darksiders action if it means the game is more polished and has fewer bugs. Take as long as you need Vigil.
