Dark Souls III Information and first screenshots have been leaked overnight revealing a whole host of information coupled with screenshots taken from the game.
The legitimacy of the leak has yet to be confirmed, however the information about the game does seem plausible and the screenshots look very realistic, but who knows right?
'The Know' claim "We've got the very first screenshots, concept art, and gameplay details from Dark Souls 3." So lets take a look at the leaked information.
Dark Souls III Release Details:
Dark Souls III is said to be coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One at some point in 2016. A PC version is also listed, however it does state that this is “negotiable" which would suggest that sales of the console copies would determine whether or not a port to PC would be viable.
Dark Souls III Player Information:
Dark Souls II will support “1-4 players,†which would suggest players could summon more than one friend, it could also feature player-versus-player.
Dark Souls III Classes:
The game will launch with 10 playable classes from the start of the game.
Dark Souls III Characters:
The game will feature 45 all new enemies along with 15 new bosses, no characters from previous games are included in this count, so they are all totally new.
Dark Souls III Weapons:
New enemies and new bosses will need new weapons to beat them right? There is reportedly a 100 new weapons and 40 new armor sets, again emphasis on the word 'New', no returning weapons or armors from previous games in the series are counted in those figures.
Dark Souls III Items:
Over 200 brand new spells, rings and consumables
Dark Souls III Gameplay:
There is rumored to be 12 areas in the game which is the same as in Dark Souls I. Whilst there are still a lot of similarities between the older games in the series and the upcoming release, the developers are also changing a few things up.
In the third title of the series the way you interact with players online will change, for instance, you will be able to take part in Sacrificial Ceremonies.
You will be able to drag bodies around and choose where to sacrifice them, perform a sacrificial ritual, and then visit another player’s game. In doing so will make you a target for other players though as you will end up marked with a bounty, although details of how this system will work are still unclear.
Sacrifices will also change your game, such as a sacrifice creating a bonfire at the location you choose to sacrifice the body, or summoning NPCs to a location of your choice.
Boss Battles will also be different due to something called a 'Heat Up' which will change boss battles based on un-described factors. This is easily illustrated by the image below which shows the same boss fight but in two different scenarios:
It is not yet clear how or what factors influence the changes you can see in the image above, but more information will likely leak over the coming days and weeks.
Interestingly there is reported to be over 60 minutes of cut scenes in the game which are not pre-rendered, but are in engine, which seems odd, given that none of the other Dark Souls titles have been about the story.
