Activision and/or Sledgehammer Games are offering a free digital next gen upgrade for all users who purchase a digital copy for the Ps3 and Xbox 360. The offer includes free upgrades not only for the game itself but also for any addition content you may purchase, Season pass holders will also have the option to upgrade to next gen free of charge.

The Option to upgrade to Next Gen starts on the launch date of Advanced Warfare and ends 31st March 2015. Please Note that digital upgrades are not cross platform and can only be done within the same console family Xbox 360 >> Xbox One or PS3 >> PS4.

This trend should continue. It would only drive sales - next gen owners typically would not buy last gen in addition... so there should be no reason publishers shouldn't continue this trend.

Greed, the reason I get my a$$ up out of bed and go to work everyday. The reason why technology continues to advance at such a fast pace. The reason why we have such awesome game consoles, smart phones and computers.

If we want to talk about GREED, then lets talk about Hollywood actors, Musicians and Professional Athletes. Now that is GREED.

EDIT: Sorry about the rant. I really want this game though. Even though I suck online. ;)

They are not forcing any user to to buy the next gen consoles. They respect the fact that, all who own a Xbox 360 or a PS3 from the past 10 years can't change to the next gen consoles as of yet! So, by this they are surely promoting next-gen consoles but isn't it good? If you purchase a Xbox 360 copy of the today and a few months later you plan to buy Xbox One, then you don't need to pay for the same game again, rather you get the same copy for free! I personally feel that this is good awareness and a great way of making people upgrade to the next-gen consoles. Yes, it can be thought of as a way of increasing the sales but still look on the bright side. Even if their sales does increase, they didn't steal that money from you, you bought it!
