I am a big fanatic of AC, I can follow all the story lines all the way through. But to me AC 4 did not feel like AC at all, There was no Desmond Story line apart from the fact that desmond had died.. And who hell are you in present day! I honestly could no follow this AC from 3 but if anyone cares to clear the fog let me now.
you are basiclly desmond no,2 he died in 3rd ,he was subject 17 you are project 17 you are being used to take up were he left of by the templars , they basicly want you to find the location of the observatory for them and put it in a report , as you progress (spoiler alert )you pop in and out of real time and get used by the assasins to try and prevent this . its not that hard to follow
