    Hi guys.
I used to mod 360s and all that.

But I was quite busy for last two years, and did not even bother playing games.

Last time I updated my LT was sometime last year, I believe.

Nowadays, I just buy original games and play them.

However I am quite worried about getting banned for playing on Live.

Recently I bought Halo 4, and i would like to play online.

I did the update which was on the disc. Didn't do Xbox Live update yet.

Halo 4 update did the dashboard update, which was fine after I searched the thread.

    Here's questions.

    1. How do I know what version of LT I have.

    2. Is it safe to play on Live with Original disc and to do Live update?
I did update sometime last year on November.
Has there been any critical updates that caused the modded ones to get banned?

    3. I heard that Microsoft has changed their type of dvd or sth, causing difficulties in burning games.
    Is this true?

Sorry, but I really havent been following the mods for last a year or so.

    Thank you.

I play on live all the time. there is a chance to get a console ban but if you calculate how much games cost and how much a replacement console is then I find it to be worth the risk. and yes I have been console banned twice before.

I would stay away from online mods myself and just make sure your backups are ABGX verified, that's about all the precaution I take. and yes most games now have xgd3 security and you need a special burner to burn the games.

Depending what Dash you went from-to you may have stock firmware anyway some point last year MS flashed every drive with a new firmware for the xgd3 disks does your Xbox even play back ups any more?

Like dozza said there was a dash update that flashed all drives to allow xgd3 format to play. you would have to take your drive out and hook it up and let jungle flasher tell you what version of fw is on the drive. i don't know of any other way without physical connection. the new format does have some hiccups and particulars when it comes to the burning and your settings and disc type but it's no harder than it was before.
