The crossover biffing of Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite [official site] will arrive on September 19th, Capcom announced today. The fighting game will throw more Marvel and Capcom characters together in 2v2 scraps. Capcom also confirmed a few more characters — Ultron, Hulk, Thor, Hawkeye, Rocket Raccoon, Chun-Li, Strider Hiryu, and Chris Redfield — and explained a little of the story.

Marvel’s robotic villain Ultron is teaming up with Sigma out Mega Man X to robotify all that grubby organic life, which leads to fisticuffs. Get a peek at the villainous merger in this new trailer:

Ooh it seems everyone wants those tacky gems these days!

Eight Marvel characters are now confirmed and not one of them is X-Mannish. MvC has phased out a lot of mutants and X-Men characters over the years, but it is curious that none are confirmed for Infinite. An rumour floating around in 2016 said that Infinite would skip mutants to focus more on folks from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. If that does end up true, it would a bit of a bummer as: 1) some of Marvel’s best characters are mutants; 2) some of MvC’s best fighters are mutants. It’s only a rumour, mind. Capcom could be quietly sitting on a whole clutch of X, like a hen.

Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite will cost £39.99/49,99€/$59.99 when it hits Windows via Steam on Tuesday, September 19th.

MvC historically skipped PC but Capcom did bring Ultimate MvC3 our way last month, five years after its console release.
