This week, Sony launched the PlayStation VR: a new virtual reality headset for the console that offers an affordable way for gamers to tap into the VR gaming market. Priced at £349.99, the PlayStation VR plugs straight into your PS4 and has already garnered plenty of rave reviews. While the headset comes with a demo disc, Sony have also released a wealth of compatible titles at launch, available both in hard format and through the PlayStation Store. You'll find games in a whole host of categories: if you're looking for a few titles to start off your collection, here are our five current favourites: 1. Job Simulator Perfect for those who like their games more lighthearted. Already available for Oculus Rift and HTC Vive, Job Simulator allows you to enjoy all the excitement of simulated human workplace tasks: try your hand at being a supermarket worker, mechanic, cook or office worker. You'll also find that certain crazy interactions - such as blending an entire bottle of wine (including bottle) to fill a sandwich can yield hilarious results. 2. Battlezone VR Heralded as one of the best launch titles for PlayStation VR, this is a great VR update for the tank combat classic. Strap yourself into a customisable tank with a futuristic design, and use your controller to attack impending enemies. Surrounded by a glass canopy, you'll be able to look all around you while you play - and the four player co-op option is great fun. There's plenty to keep you playing again and again too, with various upgrades and difficulty levels. 3. Batman: Arkham VR Priced at £15 and offering around an hour's gameplay, Batman: Arkham VR not only features great storytelling, but a wealth of VR opportunity too. From playing the piano in Wayne Manor to throwing batarangs, firing off the grapnel, investigating crime scenes and more, it's a detective rather than action-based game that shows off a range of aspects of the VR world. 4. Headmaster After a not-so-great season, you're enrolled at the Football Rehabilitation Centre: a place where you'll be put through your paces as you work on your header skills. This is a game that tests the PlayStation VR's spatial awareness to the limit, as you're taken through a series of challenges that include barriers, different targets and even exploding balls. 5. Thumper Described by its creators as "an intense, overwhelming experience", this is not one for the fainthearted. While it can be played without VR, the addition of the headset really does amplify the experience. It's a simple premise: a beat matching game that sees you controlling a metallic creature as you pass along a track, avoiding obstacles at a zippy pace. Sub-levels with save points plus bosses add to the excitement - but VR creates a whole new experience, affording a sense of all-encompassing dread. Be warned, though: the VR experience may well be too much for some...
These games look extremely interesting, but I've always wondered if a version will be created for people with one eye.
