Bandai Namco have just announced that Dark Souls II will be heading to current gen consoles next year. The Xbox One and PS4 will be getting a new edition of the game named 'Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin' will be released for PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One on 7th April.

All five platforms will include the original game as well as the three DLC packs that were released earlier this year. It goes without saying that current gen versions of the game will be more aesthetically pleasing thanks to updated visuals. Newer versions will also feature rebalanced gameplay, a higher maximum number of players in online games, additional and more challenging enemies, a new NPC to locate, 'expanded lore' and new in-game events.

The PS3 and Xbox 360 older gen console versions won't have updated visuals and higher player counts online, however they will have the DLC packs.
The question is will the save progress from Xbox 360 and PS3 carry over to the Xbox One and PS4? Hopefully it will so we can enjoy the same mods we have been using on the older gen consoles on the current gen.
