Japanese Superstition Could Impact the Next PlayStation Name Sony is working on a new PlayStation machine. According to rumor, it's called Orbis. Whilst right now this is believed to be a codename, it also might be the console's final name. Here are some reasons why Sony might not choose to call its machine the PlayStation 4. Four in Japanese (å››) is also known as "yon" (よん) or "shi" (ã—). The kanji for death is "shi" (æ»), which is why the number four is considered unlucky. The number 4 in Japan is the same as the number 13 in Western countries. Whilst this may sound silly to most, the Japanese are very superstitous. So will it or wont it? Watch this space and Xpgamesaves will bring you more news on the naming of the PS4-Orbis as we get it. What would you call the PS4 if you were releasing it?
Maybe it could be called Orbis in Japan and PlayStation 4 in other countries? I am uncertain on what I would name it, if it were not going to be named PlayStation 4. "Orbis" is not that appealing to me, though.
they could do that but i dought that they will if its named in one place its syas with that name but time will only tell lol
So far we have: Playstation = first release Playstation 2 = second release Playstation 3 = third release I say stick with tradition... Playstation 4 ftw!
