For a few days now I have been reading/watching posts of people (not just here) that got account/console ban for playing Halo 4 early and the recurring theme is they are surprised and some even angry. So my issue is why? Did you honestly think that you wouldn't? I heard one comment "I played Reach and Borderlands 2 and lots of other games a few days early and nothing happened." So first you got lucky and second it was a FEW DAYS, NOT A MONTH ahead of one of the biggest game releases of the year. Benefit of the doubt to the new kid on the console modding block maybe you honestly didn't know/think they could, however for you others, shame on you ha. Mind you this is coming from someone who has had numerous consoles/accounts ban since 2003 (yes it includes the original xbox), most notable me and Scar playing the H3 Beta online early when it leaked. So I guess this might be more of a rant than anything else, but please use some common sense people. If it's crazy early remember a few things: - Never play it on your main tag unless you have a copy of your tag to go back online with it not in your GPD - Always unplug your ethernet cable - Never play it online a month early!!! - Do not update your tag with it on it until the day of release! - Reguardless of what your buddy says you still might get ban, there is always a chance if you are breaking the TOS - Finally MS is ALWAYS watching!!! Happy gaming.
Every time Microsoft studios releases a game they go on the warpath when its leaked. This site kows about that all too well as we have been taken down for leaking Halo on previous occasions. Playing any game a month early online is pretty much asking for a ban anyway, i think people have just got complacent and cocky because ban waves seem to be few and far between lately. Whenever playing any games early you always run that risk of getting banned.... The minute you get your drive flashed you are running a risk of getting banned... Break the Terms of use and you run a risk of getting banned. You can reduce the risks by taking precautions and using common sense, as M4H stated:
I guess i can say that people do make mistakes and I was one of them. When i saw Halo 4 in the listings at my usenet reader i didn't hesitate to download, burn and play it right away and that was my mistake. I don't even like halo and i just wanted to try it, i knew that H4 was a leaked version but not that it was a month early until after i got my first achievement for it >.>
Forgot to add a little advise, by yourself a Jtag/RGH box and use it to play games not suitable foe XBX Live consoles. You will enjoy it way more and you can still have your retail console. Also if you have $$ go for the Demon Dual Nand setup.
I went with a new slim and xkey cause i would've only been able to get a 1 nand setup with my current cash and i prefer online gaming,
At worst get ya a ban box for like $50 bucks and go that route. Just scary not having another console for "other" games.
What's the use then if you can't earn the achievements...that's why I decided to take the risk and i wish i didn't.
Just to play the game. I have beat it on legendary on a dummy account, will be doing it again online on my retail copy on launch just for the time stamps. And you can always make a copy of your account, get the chevos and then update the tag online day of release.
ahhh halo4 lol seen thousands of posts with ppl throwing all kinds of theorys on how not to get banned and people reckon that game info is stored on the nand  thats a complete MYTH how do i know? simples The Xbox 360 NAND uses a proprietary format created by Microsoft The format is used to store console-specific data (keyvault, config blocks, etc) and system data (bootloaders, kernel/hypervisor, dashboard files) The NAND is split into two sections - one for storing the keyvault, bootloaders and config blocks and one for storing the dashboard files. The file are stored using a format which is designed to be transactional (each change can be reverted) NO GAME DATA is stored in the nand at all where people have been messing up is 1..playing on live profile (it stores GPD data with that game on profile=Ban) 2.deleting profile and savegame (shame the games data is still sat on hdd in the Content/000000000/title id here folder) 3.showing off and bragging to friends (who get jealous and report them) common sense people common sense use i sometimes it helps
Well im sorry but theres only one way playing a game a month early online for achievements is going to end lol.... If you want to play it for the cheevos, best thing to do is to wait it out!
