INFO:What Is A DEV Nand?A DEV nand (put simply) is a nand image that allows you to create/modify Xbox packages/files easier than doing it by guess work. Should I Use a DEV Nand?To make a long answer short, if you don't know what it is, DON'T mess with it. If you have no experience with editing/creating files, DON'T mess with it. It doesn't offer any sort of advantages over a standard Freeboot image for your every day users. Custom Boot Animations?!?!?!Yes. You can use custom boot animations. There is a downfall to that though. At this time, the console has to actually be fully booted in order to play the boot animation. What that means is you will have to wait a few extra seconds for your console to boot to dash. In order to use custom boot animations, your video must be in .wmv format and placed in the root of the HDD named "bootanim.wmv" without the quotes. To disable custom boot animations, just delete the bootanime.wmv from the HDD and remove the paths in the rgloader.ini. Preparing Your Xbox's HDD: Files you need:Pick the HDD file system for the kernel you will be installing. For this tutorial, i will be installing a 15574 kernel. 13599: HERE14699: HERE14719: HERE15574: HERE Preparing Your USB Stick With the Files: Download the file system for the kernel you wish to install. Extract the .rar archive to a place you have easy access to. Plug in your USB drive. Copy the whole "Filesystems" folder to the USB drive. Do not change the name. 15574 kernel installers must also include the "bootanim.wmv" and the "rgloader.ini" as well. On your console, copy the "Filesystems" folder to the ROOT of your HDD. Also copy the two files "bootanim.wmv" and "rgloader.ini" to the ROOT of your HDD as well. When successful, shut your console down as your done with it for right now. I really want to learn more about modding, so what's the worst damage I could do, if I'm just trying to mod games? Like lets say, forza horizon money, what would be the worst that could go wrong?
In the DEV kit building process? Well, if you don't have a hardware programmer or soldering experience, you could render your console useless. That's one thing that could go wrong. Say, you build the image wrong, you'd be SOL unless you have a NAND-X, J-R Programmer, ect. So, play it safe. Stick to what ya know. Not saying that to be mean either. If ya go poking about with the system files, (my bad habit) and you don't make back ups prior, you could put yourself in a bad situation.
turn10 sends a super top secret HV virus onto your 360 nulling important data in which bricking your console.
 Seems legit. You should be fine. BEFORE messing about, MAKE SURE TO KEEP YOUR LAST WORKING NAND DUMP. That's if you don't have your original dumps.
Nice tut Stanton, this is what i have running on my RGH's to create trainers and mod games +rep for a nice and easy to understand tut
Sounds good Jack Thanks Feral! Creating and installing a DEV nand is rather easy, but i still get asked how to create them.
