Anyone bought a 360 slim hard drive like --- http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B004LHBB92/ref=mp_s_a_22?pi=75x75&qid=1344842508&sr=8-22 Im thinking of buying it, since its only 50 bucks but wanted to know if anyone has bought it before
Have not bought an off brand but have placed a 250GB in without the outside case. You can use HDD hacker to use a WD drive for a 360. However, at that price, you might want to go ahead and get the case and the drive provided that someone else has good feedback on it.
I had bought an off branded 250gb HDD for my retail phat from eBay about a year ago and haven't had an issue with it. I don't think you'll have an issue.
After a quick eBay search I found this. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Top-New-Black-Internal-320GB-320G-HDD-Hard-Drive-Disk-fr-Microsoft-Xbox-360-Slim-/130665529384?pt=Video_Games_Accessories&hash=item1e6c45c028 It's a 320gb for slim. The price on this is US $59.89 with free shipping.
i bought a 160 gb one just like that off amazon, its an off brand and have been using it almost a yr now with no problems.
Yes, it will work on non jtag device, but it has to be a Western Digital brand I believe. Then you have to run a utility called HDDhackr to make it compatible with Xbox 360. Make sure the drive is compatible with HDDhackr and you'll hook it up to your pc, run the program, and then the 360 will recognize it. You will probably find hddhacker has already been used on this hdd, should be fine on a retail, its when hdd's are larger than 320gb that you have to worry, hacked hdd's can only be the same size as available genuine xbox 360 hdd's eg. 20g 60g 12g 250g 320g
You should be fine with the off brand HDD. Just make sure you see what the sellers feedback is like too.
