Can i be banned for downloading a game offline, playing it for a while on my xbox, deleting it and going back online?

edit: does it matter if i use my main profile, or a non live (silver or gold) one

Yes you can if they find out you were playing a game thats not yours but you said you bought so you should be fine
also you have the game which means you can play it online because they will look and see you have bought it so you are fine to play it online

When online with xbox support, i straight up asked the guy (after about 2 hours of chatting) "What if i download the game somewhere online, change the ids to my console and gamertag, since i literally own the game, can i be banned?" He said "I do not want to see you get banned, this does violate the terms because it is considered tampering", is there a way they could find out?

Yes i would have you heard about a year ago i belive they banned 1 million people for doing what you are doing right now so i would use your offline version you dont have too you can go ahead and see if they dont catch you but that is at your own risk if it was my xbl account i wouldnt do it because i saw it happen to my friends so all i am saying it is all up to you.

Anytime you play a game, burned or not the info is saved to the onboard NAND, so the next time you log into LIVE, it will show. The way they see if your system is modded is if any specific security info is missing from the game. Although it isn't the best method, like with the previous AP2.5 checks from a few months ago. Many people got console banned for failed AP2.5 checks when people didn't patch their games correctly, but people also failed checks with legit discs because the laser was either too weak, or the disc was scratched. So basically MS doesn't really know if the disc is missing the correct security data because it's burned, or maybe it's just scratched. So you can just patch your games correctly and hope for the best, or be awesome and play online not caring about a ban since you can get a replacement for like 50$.

Just saw your other thread. If you already bought the game, you can download the demo from here and play with your account since you own it under your LIVE account. Also call up your ISP and they can help you open up the ports so you can download from the marketplace.

What's the benefit of playing a game like this? I'm confused about it! Besides if 1 million people were banned this way, then you shouldn't be 1,000,001.
